This story is the first book in the Samantha Plankgunn series. As a reader, you will be introduced to most of the main characters and you will go on many adventures with Samantha and her new friends, Amelia and Fred. You will meet her loyal friend Sampson and she will tell you stories of her adventurous past. She has met and known many important people in history. As you journey through this book you will learn about real events and people of history as seen through the eyes of an eleven-year-old girl. She is out to break an over 200-year-old curse and oh the things she has seen and been through. Samantha Plankgunn has been cursed Since August 16, 1717.
 
She was orphaned for over 150 years when her father's ship sank with him and what was left of his crew on board.  Since it has just been her and her father’s blue and gold macaw parrot, Sampson, traveling the world and through time together to try and break their curse. She never got to say goodbye to her mother, or any of her friends and family. They always searched for her, her father, and his crew.
 
Sadly, after a long 3-year search, they stopped looking and faced the truth that they’ll never find them. She has outlived all of them which makes her feel more hopeless and alone. She lives her life knowing that she will stay immortal forever if she does not break the curse by retrieving the Hope Diamond and reuniting it with the Hope Ruby she has. She has befriended Amelia Earhart and her navigator. They are all on a worldwide adventure and there are twists, turns, and danger everywhere.
